Here comes the 30th annual Wharf to Wharf Race! Are you ready? If you've run this scenic six-mile classic before, you know about the weather, the forty live bands, the throngs of festive spectators and the chance to win the coveted Wharf to Wharf Runner T-shirt, awarded only to race finishers and never sold to anyone, anywhere, at any price.....ever. If you've never run it........... now's the time.
So, get off the couch, get in shape, and go for it...........and go for it soon, because Wharf to Wharf is not for everyone. Narrow streets and small town venues limit participation to 14,000 runners on a first-come-first-served basis. Nearly twice that number apply each year. Registration opens April 1st and the field typically sells out in sixty days. There is no raceday registration. If you want to run, you have to sign up early.
It's the best little roadrace in California. Go for it!

The meandering race route along scenic Monterey Bay plays no small part in the popularity of this run. You'll find new inspiration at every turn of the pristine coastline. Cool ocean breezes provide natural air conditioning. If you're coming from someplace hot, you're in for a treat!
Starting at the Santa Cruz Wharf at 8:30am, the race opens with a dash down Beach Street, passing the Ferris Wheel, roller coaster and merry-go-round of the world famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Runners then cross the San Lorenzo Bridge and loop around the Yacht Harbor to Twin Lakes Beach. Turning inland the course winds through Schwann Lake Wildlife Sanctuary before breaking back to the ocean bluffs at Pleasure Point. From there the way wanders through quaint seaside neighborhoods before dipping down to a festive finish at the Capitola Wharf.

Everyone's a winner at the Wharf to Wharf Race. Just getting in is something...and the running is something else! Elite runners vie for cash prizes of $3,000, $2,000, $1,000 and top 100 winners are awarded Centurion Sweatshirts. Local and Wheelchair divison champs receive commemorative plaques, and all race finishers earn a special gift pak of refreshments and goodies featuring the Wharf to Wharf T-shirt.

All race entrants are eligible for a trip-for-two to Hawaii. 100 names will be drawn at random from the sold out field. These 100 entrants will be issued special gold bib numbers and included in the Aloha Drawing at the raceday awards ceremony. Check your race packet for a gold bib number. You may be on your way to Hawaii!
